Kandy

Kandy is also called the Royal city of the central hills is the largest city in central province of the Sri Lanka. It is considered as the last capital of Sri Lanka where this great city lies the midst of the central plateau and surrounded with rising mountain ranges which are home to greenly carpet like tea plantations and rich bio-diversity rain forests. Kandy is a city with rich cultural and religious places which are belongs to the Kandyan Royal family who lived in the 15th century BC.  This is a considered as the world Heritage city by the UNESCO  in the year of 1988 and this city is the home for the Temple of the Tooth where Lord Buddha’s tooth relic is been placed. This temple of the Tooth is surrounded by the city’s heart Kandy Lake which is also popular for strolling. The Royal botanical garden which was used the Royal garden for the Kandyan royal hierarchies and later it was developed by one of the British governor who lived in the colonial era. The Ceylon tea Museum, gem museum and the cultural dance shows are the best places to visit during the Kandyan tour. And the  national Museum of the City is the best places to prove the importance of archeological values of the city while the annual procession called grand “ Esala Perahara” a religious and cultural event is celebrating on every August in behalf the continues rain for the cultivations.

Kandy is the nice city that consists with very lovely places to visit with University of Peradeniya and the Botanical Gardens, The Royal Palace of Kandy the last one built by in here Sri Lanka, Embakke Dewalaya with world famous wooden carvings. The Lankatilaka Temple with inherited architecture from traditional styles, Gdaladeniya Wiharaya and Asgiriya International Stadium  these places can distinguish as landmarks within this beautiful city Kandy.
