The Knuckles Mountain Range situated near to 25 kilometers from the Kandy. It is very closer to Matale, this name given those mountains range because key mountain look like a clenched fist, this name of Knuckles given by British surveyors. In Sinhalese it is known as Dumbara and also known as “misty” mountains. In here area of Knuckles you can expect wet smooth climate with sun beams that changes time to time. It is situated above around 1000 meters, UNESCO named it as world heritage site, because this mountain surrounded rare cloud forest, Highest mountain among this range known as “Gombaniya” around 1906 meters height. The thick cover of clouds has artistic value that you can see. The cloud forest surrounded with in this area woods include with with flora and fauna, in here with in the area of Knuckles Mountain Range several rivers started Mimure Oya, Kalu Ganga and Kote Ganga. In here Knuckles Mountain Range expect that minimum rainfall within the period of February to September, dry weather season within the period of February to April.
